Day 152 – December 22

Camy did not feel too good today, probably tired of the last couple of days and all the impressions and saying good bye to all of her friends at school. So being friends with the couch feels just fine.

saying good bye

Camy on the couch and the five of us enjoying another perfect breakfast under the sun.

After breakfast it was time to take a dip into the heated pool, we turned on the heater because that is what you need those days even though the weather is still good.

After some time in the pool it was time to clean up all of Camy’s schoolbooks and notebooks, so that is just what she did with her pops.

At the same time Bram was treated with Reiki by his mother.

Pleasure Island is where we went in the afternoon.

But since Camy was still not in perfect shape we did not stay too long and went home early. But not before we got ourselves a sandwich at Sandwich of Earl. We took them home and that is where we enjoyed them along with some soup we made. Best sandwiches ever!

We also took a picture of the entire family at the entrance / exit of Pleasure Island.

Day 150 – December 20

Oh does this feel good or what, no alarm clocks today and not for the next two weeks. It is holiday!!

We just hang around the house and sat outside on the porch. Towards the end of the day we visited Posner Park for some groceries and shopping.

And of course we had to make a stop at Ross.

And yes we did what we wanted to do, the first new clothing is bought and is ready to be taken home to Holland.

Day 149 – December 19

Today was Camy’s last day of school, we all took her to class on this final day. Granddad and grandma’s joined her to class and stayed there for the pledges.

pledges

Today we also need to pick Camy up at 1.00PM so we again have entertain ourselves until then. Camy has no more tests today but it is more a fun day at school with a couple of games they play. A fun day to say good bye to her American Middle School adventure.

First we attended chapel with the five of us, the last one we will attend before going home.

Afterwards we had breakfast at First Watch, we had a wonderful blueberry pancake.

At 1.00PM we picked Camy up for the last time, this was the final day of school after attending St. Lukes Middle school for the past five months, what an experience for a 12 year old. It is hard to think about it that it has come to an end, it was all so good. School was awesome, the student and teachers more than that!

Taking a few pictures with some of Camy’s friends.

She was also spoiled by students and teachers with some little things.

Quick, one more final picture with Audrey her friend from 7th grade.

This afternoon we went to Blue Spring State Park. Unfortunately there were not too many manatees, like last time. But still we had a good time to start the holiday season we will still spend here.

Day 148 – December 18

Wether or not we have got visitors does not really matter, the alarm clock still rings at 6.00AM. We all have to take a shower, get dressed and have some breakfast before we head towards school. The car is filled with two grandma’s and a granddad who will join us today.

Because Camy had school until 1.00PM, she only had two tests today, Bram and I had thought about what to do this morning and we came up with the idea to visit the village of Christmas.

First we went to McDonalds to have a cup of coffee and an egg muffin, once doen we drove off to Christmas.

visitors

We had visited this village only a week ago but we had not visited the open air museum, so that is just what we did today.

We also visited the museum about Floridian wars.

Next to the fort there were some houses of the 1700-1800’s. It is similar to the Pioneer House in Kissimmee.

At 1.00PM we picked Camy up from school and went to Winter Park. We first had lunch, a wonderful pita bread and falafel. Because we had the lunch on the go we sat down at the harbor of our boat tour.

And about 30 minutes our boat departed through the different canals of Winter Park and we made some stops at the different lakes as well. The weather was very good so we all enjoyed our tour.

Around the lake some real big villa’s were build and some of them belong to some famous people, like NBA-stars and other well-known people.

In the middle of the lake there was a tree holding christmas bells.

Around the lake you also saw trees with Spanish moss. It looked really good but, unfortunately, it does not really show in the picture.

Day 147 – December 17

Today is the day that it will no longer be the three of us anymore. Today we will pick our parents up from the airport and have them with us the last two weeks of our stay.

At 1.00PM we headed towards Tampa right out of school to pick them up.

When we arrived we first got ourselves a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

After that it was waiting time … DTW-TPA, DL1621 arrival 4.48PM.

And then after some 5 months we were finally back together, our parents are there. Welcome in Tampa, welcome in Florida!

Camy was happy to see her two grandma’s and granddad. She had to check wether or not she had grown any the last couple of months. And she certainly did, she got up with Oma Lien.

Day 146 – December 16

Today we had to return the books at school. As per today there are only tests to be taken, so books are no longer needed and necessary.

school books

It was real foggy this morning but during the day it got out of our way and it turned out to be beautiful day.

We had some delicious donuts with coffee for lunch.

At 1.00PM we picked Camy up drom school and headed towards doctor Shah, my cardiologist, for my final appointment. Everything was just fine, no more checks until we go back home.

We also received a couple more Christmas cards today, thank you!

Day 145 – December 15

Today we had an appointment with doctor Barot, he is my hematologist. He told me that everything was just fine. My blood is just fine there is nothing to be concerned about, I’m happy!

Since his office is close to home we went home after we were done. Normally we do not go home on a schoolday but since we will have company as per Wednesday this was perfect timing. This enabled me to do some little things at home I normally do not have time for.

hematologist

So we drove home and received a printed version of my file for my doctors in Holland.

There was some mail that we received, some Christmas cards, France, Holland and Germany is were they are sent from.

Day 144 – December 14

Yesterday we talked with our next door neighbor, they are from England and rent out their Villa as well, just like us and many more in the area. Now they have a two week holiday and are here to enjoy their Villa and they happen to play golf as well. So the next thing we know, we are discussing Tee times. The weather is getting better again so being outside is just perfect.

England

So with our neighbor we headed towards Providence, a public golfclub, about 10 minutes from the Villa.

A beautiful course, hole 1 through 9 are within the neighborhood and holes 10 through 18 are a little more into “the middle of nowhere”.

While playing, we had our own golf cart, we looked for pine cones for Christmas!

We had two carts, own for the players, Bram and Brian, and one for the ladies, Sylvia and Camy. Camy enjoyed it as much as all of us, she was the driver of our cart, awesome! Makes her practice for driving lessons, only 2 more years before she can get her restricted license here and drive a real car.

While Bram was playing Camy still had some work to do, she still had to finish one more book prior to school break.

This is Bram in action.

On the course we also saw some turkeys, we have never seen them like this, just walking around.

And besides the turkey how about this gator that took a nap.
When you look right you can see the ball right with his right paw. Are you going to hit it?

For dinner we went out with Frank and Margret at Bahama Breeze, just wonderful. Thank you for an awesome night, we had good fun.

When we got home I finished up on Camy’s “good bye sweets”. Some sweets and a thank you card.

Day 143 – December 13

Today we enjoyed an easy day. At dinner time we headed towards Pleasure Island. We had some fries there on a pre-heated terrace.

Pleasure Island

As a desert Bram and Camy had a coffee at Starbucks.

We enjoyed that while seated and just watched all the people go by. On a regular Saturday night it is well crowded here at Pleasure Island and it is just so much fun to see all those beautiful people.
