Day 85 – October 16

What can we say, everything is so well taken care of here, family wants to spend the night, not a problem! In fact, it is almost what they all do, rooms are made for it.

Today is TEE test day, exciting..
I was picked up at 10.00AM and Bram and Camy walked with me. I was transported into the “operation” room right away and the infuse were filled with all kinds of fluids. I had to open my mouth so they could put something in so the tube was able to guide in. That is when they informed I was going to be under narcoses all the way. Good idea but I have never done that before, will I wake up again….

But before I knew the test was over with and did I sleep or what. I did not feel a thing, no sore throat. Only a little “blah” of the narcoses but that was it. And in the end, the test was not bad at all, doctor was right!

day85-03

Back in the room I told the entire story in relieve to Bram and Camy, they, of course, were excited as well, wondering whether or not all was going to be all right. Were we happy or what that the test was over with!

Bram was already been updated by the doctor, he told him that all went according to plan and the heart looked perfectly fine.

Now we only had to wait for the final results of the blood tests, they had taken 10 tubes of blood. They were taken to the lab see if there was anything abnormal to see.

For now, I’m going to take a nap.

Day 84 – October 15

Oh what a good night sleep I had, in my own room, no other patients. The only thing I do not like is when they wake you at 4.00AM to take my blood pressure and a general check, to see if there are still signs of a TIA. At about 4.30AM they informed me I was to undergo the TEE test, so until then no food and drinks, nothing at all…. except some water to take my meds.

blood pressure

The nurse handed me a form I needed to sign that it was one with me to pursue the test. It mentioned all kinds of things that could go wrong etc. I thought to myself, I’m not going to take this test at all, after reading all this. And what is it I’m exactly signing for, it mentioned surgery on top of the page, they better not do any surgery on me. I was not going to sign and told them I was going to wait until Bram was there, his English is better than mine. Have him go through it first and than we might sign. All right, no problem, we’ll do it that way, pfff what a relieve.

Not even 30 minutes after that the nurse came back with a phone, talking to the doctor, he wanted to talk to me. Why did I not want to sign the papers? I explained him that I was scared and had some doubts. He talked to me and in the end had me sign the paperwork, it is his profession and does it every day, trust us, you will not regret it. You will not feel anything, you will be injected and feel numb. Yeah right, you do not have “swallow” that tube…. well after talking to him a little more I signed the paperwork without having Bram read it first.

Camy and Bram had arrived and I had informed them by What’s app that they were able and allowed to spent the night here, so take everything you need!

We had a comfortable chair and space enough to enjoy ourselves. I was in bed (sometimes Camy got in as well) and Bram watches the computer or some TV, waiting till its time to undergo the test.

day84-02

At about 2.00PM they informed the test was cancelled because something else interfered. What a relieve, ’cause I’m sure as … am not waiting for the test. I do not want to tube to “swallow”!!

Relieved as I was, I ordered some soup and fruit and just waited for what the doctor had to tell me.

day84-03

He came over and informed me that the test will be taken tomorrow morning, 10.30AM. Good, at least I do not have to stay sober for too long and wait endless hours.
