After all that happened yesterday I did get some sleep but it has not sunk in yet all that has happened, all went so quick. And ooh did I feel miserable, there was no pain but I felt that my body had to work real hard to keep up with all.
My blood pressure was high and that caused a small TIA that is what the doctor told me this morning. We knew I had a blood pressure that was high, I am taking pills for that for over 15 years now but we never realized that it could cause something like this, we never could imagine that. For now I’m just waiting for all the scores of the different test that I took yesterday, see what they decide to do and where we go next.
The infusion has been placed into my arm and from now on they take blood every day.
Medicines I’m getting now are: cholesterol, aspirins and B12, for now no medicine to lower my blood pressure, those are on hold for now.
The nurse tells me I can eat some so she hands me a menu card. Wow, it looks like a restaurant, you can order anything you want, burgers, pizza, salads and soup. I did not really feel hungry so I only ordered some fruit and yoghurt.
This whiteboard in my room tells me what day and date it is, who your nurse is for today and what the goal is to achieve today. The goal they set for me today: safety, rest, sleep! Sounds like a perfect goal. To tell you the truth I’m kind of scared, I do not want this to happen again,a TIA….
At around 9.00PM the doctor asked me wether or not I wanted to take a TEE scan, a test which allows them to take a look at the back of my heart with a camera. Since all the other tests were positive they wanted to make sure they did not miss anything and wanted to exclude all possible causes of what caused the actual TIA.
To undergo this test, a tube will be inserted into your throat and that is not exactly what I was waiting for. However the upside is the opportunity to really have me checked out and enables me to leave the hospital in good shape and feel healthy again.
All right, we will do it! As from midnight I can not have anything to eat so we can proceed and have the test taken the next morning. They do enter the esophagus and when you are not sober not the best way to do it.
At 9.30PM they informed me that I will be taken from the observation room (a room shared with 5 others) to my private room on the 9th floor with a view.
Too bad Bram and Camy had just left for home, this room has room for the three of us so they were able to spent the night. Well they can stay tomorrow when I can not leave the hospital, which would be awesome. Going through this with the three of us would really help me! It is still some 45 minutes from home. Well it is time to get some sleep while I can, they wake me at midnight and at 4.00AM, just to check up on me.
