Day 80 – October 11

Hip Hip Hooray!

Today is party time! It is my birthday and Camy celebrates hers as well today, she turned 12-1/2.
She wanted to celebrate it in The USA, so why not today.

day80-01

day80-02

That is also why we bought the cake: Happy Birthday “All About Life Here”!

day80-03To start the day the right way, we stopped at Dunkin’ Donuts first to get a dozen awesome donuts!

day80-04So today started with…. Breakfast!

Oh no no, it started by unwrapping all the present we got!

day80-05 day80-06

They spoiled me with, strawberry shower gel, pink nail polish, Sephora box with 7 mascara’s. A Too faced box holding a mascara, eyeliner, primer. Oh and not to forget the MAC lipstick, Candy Yum Yum. Very, very happy!

day80-18

My mum gave me my present, a new bedcover, for when we come home, thanks!

day80-07 day80-08

Because Camy celebrated her birthday as well we got her some golf clubs. Now she can play with Bram. We found those clubs at the Goodwill store while Camy was at school. And let me tell you, you do not run into those very often since they are left-handed and youth size. We bought three clubs, she how much she will like it.

day80-09 day80-10

This walking branch brought us a visit, never seen this one here before. I say walking branch but I am not sure of it because I do not think they can fly.

day80-11

For lunch I had made us some pumpkin soup and a pumpkin smoothy, and yes used the pumpkin I bought yesterday. I had already cut the pumpkin and had it sit in water the entire night. Only to be put into the blender today with banana, orange juice, milk and cinnamon to get this wonderful smoothy, real good!

day80-12 day80-13 day80-14

We decided to go to Universal Citywalk this evening to celebrate, we had never been there before. We read a lot about it but never actually went. It is comparable with Disney Pleasure Island except that Disney is, in our opinion, more family minded and Citywalk more for the older, at least that is what we think. We like Disney better but it was good to atleast been there.

day80-15 day80-16 day80-17

And to finish it all up, make your own ice cream.

All in all a superb day, special and different from Holland.

Day 69 – September 30

Today is a day off and we enjoyed it by going to the Florida Mall.
Bram and Camy will go their way and I will go mine. It happens to be my birthday soon and they want to buy me a present.

birthday

After the Mall we decided to go watch a movie so we take off for Pleasure Island, Downtown Disney and bought tickets for Boxtrolls.

day69-02 day69-03

We got ourselves a sandwich at Earl of Sandwich for dinner.
When here you really got to try one, they are more than good!
We ordered the tuna and cheese.

day69-04

Camy ordered a banana muffin with walnuts.

day69-05

We walked back and visited the Lego store, looking at the latest builds.
Any one needs some Lego?

Day 53 – September 14

Today we had breakfast at The Waffle House.

day53-01

What are we having, there is so much to choose from. I’m glad there is a lot that I will not eat in the morning so that makes it a whole lot easier to pick something. I do not eat bacon and eggs for instance.

day53-02

day53-03

Camy and I both had a strawberry waffle. Double the size so we had plenty for the entire day! Well, you know us, enough for the morning 🙂

day53-04 day53-05

After breakfast we went to Disney World Wide Sports. This is where all kinds of sports are being played, baseball, tennis, la cross, soccer and more. A baseball game was played but almost over so we did not buy any tickets but just walked around.

After we were done at Disney I had to pump gas, not something I enjoy doing. Not just because of pumping gas but also because of the way of paying (reading all the instructions) and picking the right hose. But Bram and Camy made me do it today and laughed out loud. And oh that was not all they also made me drive today, something Bram always does. But I had to do it some day so today was the day, such a big car but all went real well!

day53-06

See, me being proud at the gas station, hihi!

day53-07

And last but not least we also stopped at a yard sale. There are plenty of yard sales throughout the weekend but we rarely stop because …. what do we need? But today we decided to and have a look and even bought a funny game.

Downtown Disney

Disney Springs is the new name given to the complex at Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando. Formerly known as Downtown Disney and prior to that as Disney Village Marketplace and Walt Disney World Village it was officially changed as per September 2015.

The complex is divided into three areas: West Side, the Landing, and the Marketplace. As was Downtown Disney, Disney Springs is open  all year and there is no admission or parking fees charged. Visitors of Walt Disney World resort can use the free transportation, buses and water taxis, to and from Disney Springs.

West Side

The Disney Springs West Side has many full service restaurants, large stores, and entertainment venues. Planet Hollywood opened in December 1994. Jenny, the shrimping boat used in the 1994 film Forrest Gump, is located on the northwest corner of that restaurant. Characters in Flight opened in early 2009 and features a giant tethered balloon that rises 400 feet.

Expansion of the existing AMC Theaters Pleasure Island 24 opened with Downtown Disney West Side in 1997. In late 2010 it was refurbished  and created so that theaters could be offering food service. The complex was renamed AMC Downtown Disney 24. In 1997, there were plans to open a Planet Movies by AMC entertainment complex at this location by combining the Planet Hollywood restaurant with a re-branded AMC megaplex. However, these plans never took place because of Planet Hollywood’s continued financial problems. The complex has now been renamed AMC Disney Springs 24

The Landing

The Landing was formerly Pleasure Island, a nighttime entertainment complex with two comedy clubs and four dance clubs. These clubs were all closed permanently in September of 2008. Pleasure Island was ready to undergo extensive renovations and re-theming to transform it into the early twentieth century wharf-themed entertainment area. New shopping and dining locations would have also been added. However all plans were cancelled in favor of Disney Springs with the area currently known as Pleasure Island, along with part of the current parking lot, eventually becoming The Landing.

Marketplace

The Marketplace has many shops and restaurants. The first restaurant in the Earl of Sandwich chain is located here. T-Rex Cafe is a dinosaur-themed restaurant, which features dinosaurs. It opened on October 14, 2008. Rainforest Cafe is also located at this location. A walkway spanning the Village Lake and connecting Rainforest Cafe with the Lego Store – The Marketplace Causeway – was constructed and opened in 2015.
