Day 144 – December 14

Yesterday we talked with our next door neighbor, they are from England and rent out their Villa as well, just like us and many more in the area. Now they have a two week holiday and are here to enjoy their Villa and they happen to play golf as well. So the next thing we know, we are discussing Tee times. The weather is getting better again so being outside is just perfect.

England

So with our neighbor we headed towards Providence, a public golfclub, about 10 minutes from the Villa.

A beautiful course, hole 1 through 9 are within the neighborhood and holes 10 through 18 are a little more into “the middle of nowhere”.

While playing, we had our own golf cart, we looked for pine cones for Christmas!

We had two carts, own for the players, Bram and Brian, and one for the ladies, Sylvia and Camy. Camy enjoyed it as much as all of us, she was the driver of our cart, awesome! Makes her practice for driving lessons, only 2 more years before she can get her restricted license here and drive a real car.

While Bram was playing Camy still had some work to do, she still had to finish one more book prior to school break.

This is Bram in action.

On the course we also saw some turkeys, we have never seen them like this, just walking around.

And besides the turkey how about this gator that took a nap.
When you look right you can see the ball right with his right paw. Are you going to hit it?

For dinner we went out with Frank and Margret at Bahama Breeze, just wonderful. Thank you for an awesome night, we had good fun.

When we got home I finished up on Camy’s “good bye sweets”. Some sweets and a thank you card.

Day 130 – November 30

Today we drove around and visited a market we have wanted to visit for quite some time now but never had the opportunity to do so. It seemed like a fun place but since we always drove by fast we actually did not know. Today we will stop by and find out.

market

day130-02

It was a market where they also sold animals and it looked more like a market in Africa, how much “trash” can you sell.

day130-03

Can you tell how much fun they are having, they just love it here, NOT!

All in all it was not much and certainly not what we expected, half of all the stands were closed and all the stand that were open had nothing but trash.

day130-04

Afterwards we headed towards the golfclucb of Kissimmee. The golf club is located right besides a small airport, Kissimmee Airport. About every 30 minutes a plane took off or landed, all in the private plane variety.

day130-05 day130-06 day130-07

Camy wanted to drive the golf cart, so we explained how to and since she is a quick learner she took over the wheel.

day130-08 day130-09 day130-10

Bram in action.

day130-11

Oh, how good is life when there is a little sun every single day.

day130-12 day130-13

On th parking lot there were some cranes picking seeds, we counted 12, never seen this many hanging out togheter.

day130-14

When we got home again there was still a little sun so we enjoyed that by sitting outside and having a cup of tea and a peanutbutter snickers bar with that.

day130-15

Later that evening Camy and I started to decorate the Christmas tree, the lights are in it already. Maybe a little early but everybody is getting ready for the holiday season, and you know the do not celebrate December 5th like we do. So we can enjoy it for a month long.

Day 105 – November 5

Camy had forgotten her belt today, so she asked her homeroom teacher wether or not she had a spare one available. She has to ask one or else she gets a lunch detention meaning that she can not have lunch in the cafeteria but in a classroom without talking….. yep, that is how they do it here! Lucky for her she got a real nice pink belt, really matching her uniform.

detention

We went to Winterpark right away, we wanted some fresh air and wanted to play some golf.

day105-02 day105-03

See that small house in the background, nice or what and so close to the golf course.

day105-04

Take a little break and wait so we can continue playing our round.

day105-05

Sometimes birds get in our way, some kind of raptor, here about 2 meter from us and about 45cm tall.

day105-06See all those yellow flowers in the background, large yellow daisies, nice match with the flagpole.

day105-07

day105-08

I just had to take this picture.

day105-09

For lunch we had falafel, we had done that before here but this time we ordered it and took it with us. We had to be back at school in time to pick Camy up.

day105-10

When we arrived home I enjoyed the sun out in the front yard for some time. The sun was not available in the back yard any longer so that is why I sat my chair in the front, more than enough sun for me to enjoy.

day105-11

Across the street they are working the christmas decoration and lighting, it does look good to tell you the truth. I will take picture later in the week, when they are all done and light it up when it is dark.

day105-12

Oh and we found those mega “apples” from the pine tree. Hope to get some more later this week.

Day 81 – October 12

What a great we had yesterday, I really enjoyed my birthday!
I did not have to do anything, normally when we celebrate birthdays we have the house packed with family and friends, but not this time. So a birthday only with all the adorable messages from all of you. Thanks for thinking about me!

house packed day81-02

For the remainder of the day with did not do too much, Camy had homework to do but that was it. At about 4.00PM we drove to the golf course of Kissimmee, we had to try the new clubs Camy had gotten because of her birthday.

day81-03 day81-04 day81-05 day81-06 day81-07

day81-08

With a little help from Bram she did quite all right, it is a first, we will be back for more golf!

day81-09

While Bram and Camy were practicing their respective swings I played a little on my phone, time for a selfie. Golf is not really my thing, I rather watch it. Ah well, who knows I might like it some day and start playing. But it needs to be with temperatures like today and no cold and wind.

Day 75 – October 6

Today we started by paying 9 holes of golf in Winterpark.
We did this after we dropped Camy off at school.

Winterpark

day75-02

Tee time was at 10.30AM, we had been here before. The golf course is set up real nice in the middle of the neighborhood.

day75-02 day75-03 day75-04 day75-05

We did not use a cart this time but walked through the course and with only 9 holes to go is was more than doable, it is about 3 miles in total.

On Facebook I read a lot about that it is time to start wearing winter coats back home. I can tell you here in Florida that is not the case, sunny and blue sky! If I could I would have send 10F to Holland long time ago, for all of you.

day75-06

At the end of the 9 holes an old fashioned ice cream!

day75-07

When we got home later today, we found another card in the mailbox, thanks again!

Day 71 – October 2

All right, our days off are behind us, 5 days of doing whatever you feel like doing are over. We dropped Camy off at school and we went on to play some golf. Because it was Brams birthday this week he received a coupon of a golf course in Sanford. He was invited to play 18 holes of golf for free, isn’t that nice.

Sanford

See, here we are in our golf cart, it was mandatory and to tell you the truth much better than walking. Since Bram played I drove and was his caddy again.

day71-02

We also had to cross the road a couple of times, this course too, was in the village center.

day71-06

We played with two other guys which was good so they could show us the way.

day71-04

I’m behind the wheel and have to keep score as well, busy, busy, busy job 🙂

day71-05

Oh and not to forget, take picture of my Tiger Woods.

The weather was awesome once again, tee time was 10.00AM with some sun. It got a little cloudy while playing but no complaints, it would be too hot when there were no clouds.

day71-07

All in all, perfect day! and for me a first to play golf the entire day.
We left at 10.00AM and played until 2.00PM, what a day … but we did it.
And this was our cart … cool driver too, or not?!

Day 63 – September 24

Today we worked out in the park, it is where we start our Wednesdays the last couple of weeks.

worked

I did some exercising through YouTube and waited for Bram when I was done.

day63-02

Bram worked on his chipping, took the club and some balls from home.

day63-03

Once we were done we headed for the post office, we needed some stamps.
We have a couple of cards that need to be mailed. As promised, everybody who we got a card from will get one in return.

day63-04

day63-05

At Panera Bread we had some coffee and tea, enjoying the sun outside.

day63-06 day63-07

Since it was Wednesday we went to have dinner at church again. Today it was all sponsored by Chick-Fil-A. Chicken burger, Lettuce, Chips, Cookies and Apple Pie, could not have asked for anything better on a Wednesday! Next week I do however expect some carrot, sauerkraut or kale, made the Dutch way of course. Where is all my vitamins….?

We headed home at about 6.30PM, time for some home work and a cup of tea with the three of us. Right now we watching, The Voice and Dancing with the Stars, needless to say, the American versions.

day63-08

Oh by the way, Camy got home with a note from the school nurse, same as yesterday. She was hit in the head by a soccer ball while having P.E. and did not feel all to well because of it. The nurse wrote a little note for us, parents, so we knew what happened at school.

Day 61 – September 22

A new week started again and we did it by playing some golf in Winterpark. Well Bram plays golf and I’m his caddy.

day61-01 day61-02 day61-03 day61-04

They decorated some trees at the clubhouse, it looked good.

day61-05

First, some practice puts and than ready to go. Let’s go!

day61-06 day61-07

day61-08

day61-09

This golf course is in the city center, cars drive by and hope we do not hit them….

day61-10 day61-11

I was very important today, as caddy and score keeper.

day61-12

Oh and taking out and putting back the flag.

day61-13 day61-14 No Taco Bell for lunch this time but a Mexican Restaurant, Chipotle Mexican Grill. Real good and we recommend to visit it too.

day61-15

And in the afternoon it was coffee and tea time.
At First Watch we sat outside, often being the only ones outside but what can we say, the a/c is just too cold inside. Having it all for ourselves outside is a pleasure and luxurious.

day61-16

When school was out we took this picture, two happy girls both from Europe. Lizzy is from England, her parents have a business her which allows them stay and work here. The girls can get along real well, see those smiles on their faces!

day61-17 day61-18

Laughing is not what we did later that afternoon, we had a little fun driving home until we got pulled over. The officer did not think it was funny at all and could not appreciate it. Because of the rain she thought I should not be speeding, doing 77miles where only 55miles is allowed…. $280.00 is your total to be paid.

Day 57 – September 18

We missed our sun rise this morning, it was kind of foggy for the first time. But when you wait some 30 minutes guess what happens in sunny Florida.

day57-01

day57-02 day57-03

We started with hitting some golf balls on the driving range today.
While Bram hits a little, I continued reading my Ricky Lake book.

day57-04

Camy turned in her 5 stars she earned at school. When 5 stars are earned you are able to turn them in and in return you can have a day at school in private clothing. with some restrictions, shorts not too short, shirts have to have sleeves and can not be tank tops.

day57-05

All in all a great day, see her coming down the stairs with a big smile and two other girls, all happy. Time to start earning another 5 stars and private clothing!

Day 54 – September 15

See for yourself, what a beautiful day, blue sky and 90F, what else can you ask for?

day54-01

day54-02 day54-03

Today we visited a golf course, 9 holes, in Winterpark, some 30minutes from school. Lets see what the fee is and find out wether or not we are allowed to play in the first place. Yep, it is open for public and 9-holes will be $13.00. The course is in the city center with streets right next to it, so you better not slice it! It look real good and well maintained and surrounded by some real large Villas. Can we have a look inside? We’ll be back soon to play some!

day54-04 day54-05

Winterpark can not be compared to Orlando but more to an Italian or Spanish like village, you get that Mediterranean feeling. When in the Orlando area visit Winterpark and find that feeling of not being in The USA.

day54-06

We had our lunch in Winterpark as well, we found a Turkish kitchen and had falafel with a flatbread. Very good and tasteful.

day54-07

When we got home we found a couple of postcards in the mailbox, always good to see when people take time and drop you a card or letter.
