Day 130 – November 30

Today we drove around and visited a market we have wanted to visit for quite some time now but never had the opportunity to do so. It seemed like a fun place but since we always drove by fast we actually did not know. Today we will stop by and find out.

market

day130-02

It was a market where they also sold animals and it looked more like a market in Africa, how much “trash” can you sell.

day130-03

Can you tell how much fun they are having, they just love it here, NOT!

All in all it was not much and certainly not what we expected, half of all the stands were closed and all the stand that were open had nothing but trash.

day130-04

Afterwards we headed towards the golfclucb of Kissimmee. The golf club is located right besides a small airport, Kissimmee Airport. About every 30 minutes a plane took off or landed, all in the private plane variety.

day130-05 day130-06 day130-07

Camy wanted to drive the golf cart, so we explained how to and since she is a quick learner she took over the wheel.

day130-08 day130-09 day130-10

Bram in action.

day130-11

Oh, how good is life when there is a little sun every single day.

day130-12 day130-13

On th parking lot there were some cranes picking seeds, we counted 12, never seen this many hanging out togheter.

day130-14

When we got home again there was still a little sun so we enjoyed that by sitting outside and having a cup of tea and a peanutbutter snickers bar with that.

day130-15

Later that evening Camy and I started to decorate the Christmas tree, the lights are in it already. Maybe a little early but everybody is getting ready for the holiday season, and you know the do not celebrate December 5th like we do. So we can enjoy it for a month long.

Day 115 – November 15

It is weekend, so time to cross off some of our to do list.
We checked all the sprinklers in the yard, some are broken, some do not come up all the way and some do not sprinkle, probably a leak somewhere. So lets take care of all this first.

sprinklers day115-02 day115-03

There are also some ants in the backyard, fire ants they are and can be mean to us. Once they hurt you you will be bothered by it for a couple of days. But all in all they are so fascinating considering what they all do and build.

day115-06 day115-07 day115-08 day115-09 day115-10 day115-11

At 2.00PM we drove off to Kissimmee, they had an art show.

day115-12

We also bought some Dutch Apple pie with whipped cream for later tonight.

Day 60 – September 21

Unfortunately we had to get up early this sunday morning, we had told our friends we would meet them at church today, so off to Kissimmee we went.

churchday60-02

Worship started at 11.00AM, so here we were, the three of us and some hundred more. Two were even baptized today, good for Camy to see since this is what they talk about at religion at school. Now she was able to see it for herself. Also the band played some live music, lets rock-n-roll while in church!

day60-03 day60-04 day60-05

Worship lasted a little less than an hour so at noon we drove back home. There was plenty to do for us. Camy had to do some homework and we started to paint the bathrooms. We went from salmon pink to light blue.

day60-06

I also had to do some wood work, I did this outside.

day60-07

And at the same time we cleaned all the shower doors, there is no time for the cleaners to do this so those things need to be done by ourselves when we are here.

Old Town

Only 15 minutes from our Villa on highway 192 Old Town is located. Old Town opened its doors in 1986 and has attracted a lot of visitors as well as local residents over the last 30 years. It does so because of the entertainment and famous car cruises but also because of the restaurants and shopping. Just take that walk through Old Time and have that 50s and 60s feel and wind yourself in another time and place. Old Town has some 70 stores so it should not be too difficult to find something of your liking. Get your Florida and Disney souvenirs here, all priced reasonably or have your back-in-time picture taken as a pirate or cowboy.

If cars make you smile you better show up on Friday and/or the weekend. Friday night has the all-American muscle cars to show for with makings only prior to 1988. Then on saturday night everybody can enjoy the classic beauties that go cruising on “Saturday Nite Cruise”.  And when all that is not enough we have sunday “Show N’Shine”, which features show-quality trucks, jeeps and SUV’s. Come join the show and enjoy the live music which is played.

OldTOwnKissimmee

On wednesday nights, step back in time with Little Darlin’s Street Party and Cruise-In, where music from the 50s and 60s fills the air. Bring your doo-wop dancing shoes because this street party will get your motor running.

Besides the night filling programs there is enough to do for families as well, with all sorts of entertainment with the likes of: A Haunting (the haunted house), the Happy Days Family Fun Center (more than 50 arcade and skill games), go-kart track (single- and double-seat cars) or The Great Magic Hall (a magical experience).

And when it is time to dine… just walk in to one of the many restaurants you can find at Old Town. Bamboo Courts (Chinese), Blue Max Tavern, Jimmy Johns (sandwiches), Mr. Sushi or Southern Breeze just to name a few.
