Day 55 – September 16

Today we went to downtown Orlando an area we normally do not visit when on holiday. But since we drive by every single day these days we figured we better spend some time there and it certainly was no waste of time.

day55-01

We parked the car along Lake Eola and walked around.

A very nice park, see here to get an impression of the park and lake.

day55-08 day55-09

When at Publix we bought some fresh fruit.

day55-10 day55-11

When we sat down and ate the fruit we noticed that people were starring at the lake and it seemed interesting. So we took a look ourselves and saw all these turtles.

Awesome weather, awesome park, just another awesome day!

Day 42 – September 3

While having a cup of coffee and Tee we studied the map of the Orlando area because of the fact that we do not want to shop the entire week. There is so much more to do in Florida that we want to explore, like visiting The Art Museum. By the way, Camy’s school is where the arrow is pointed at.

Day42-01

Day42-02

After finishing our drinks we drove to a Goodwill store.

I bought this chair for one of our bedrooms.
There were other items I saw and really liked but not to decorate the home with or take all the way with me to Holland.

Day42-03 Day42-04 Day42-05

The light of the pool also had to be changed, so when we got home Bram had to take care of this. Since he had to stay under water I had to help him by putting my hands on his head and push him under. So in the end it was the both of us who took care of the light, hihi. We are at least we able to swim again at night.

Day42-06 Day42-07

Day 16 – August 8

Today was the day to go out and have dinner some where.
But where …. we knew it had to be outside because the temperature is so good even later at night.
Inside you always run into the air condition, which is fine but not while having dinner. It makes you that much colder and just the air while eating.

Day16-02So we came up with Downtown Disney (now: Disney Springs) and Pleasure Island. Disney Springs is more than worth the visit when you are visiting the Orlando area. You can find restaurants, stores and all sorts of entertainment here. You can easily wonder around for a couple of hours and have a little fun. There is more than enough to do!

Day16-01This was our little desert, well small??
We decided to take just one and share it with the two of us while enjoying the crowd and Camy who danced the night away.
A fun place to be, there is a DJ who plays records and gets everybody off their feet, young and elderly.

Day 10 – August 2

We ran in some tough luck last night, since we never ever book a hotel, we were unable to find one last night for the very first time. And all we did see, pricing was outrages. But since we all need a little rest we had no other choice and book a more expensive hotel. This also altered our plans a little. We are hoping to fly doen to Florida a little earlier than planned. Chances of finding a hotel is a little odd these days in this area because of all that is happening this time of year.

So off to Logan Airport (Boston) we went, trying to catch a flight to Orlando. Since we always travel as stand-by passengers, we always have to wait until right before departure time. And it seemed to be our lucky day again, the last three available seats were ours. And the good thing was, all at the same row. Sylvia sat on her own but Bram and Camy had seats next to each other so no complaints.

Home sweet Home!!

Day10-1 Day10-2 Day10-3 Day10-4

Gatorland

Gatorland is a theme park and wildlife preserve in Florida, located along South Orange Blossom Trail south of Orlando.

Gatorland was opened 67 years ago in 1949 and has been privately owned, as the first major attraction in central Florida. Billed as the “Alligator Capital of the World,” Gatorland features thousands of alligators and crocodiles, a breeding marsh with boardwalk and observation tower, reptile shows, aviary, petting zoo, swamp walk, and educational programs. The park is known for buying and rescuing nuisance alligators from trappers that would otherwise be killed for their meat and skin. The Breeding Marsh area of the park was used in the 1984 movie, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

In the summer of 2011 a new attraction was added: a zip line that travels across a pool of alligators and past several of the existing attractions. The ride is 1,200 feet long and several stories high.
Gatorland opened Gator Spot at Fun Spot America Theme Parks’ Orlando park in 2015. The $1 million attraction allows Gatorland to extend their brand to the I-Drive tourist area, with visitors able to hold, take photos with, and feed alligators. The star of the attraction is a leucistic alligator named Bouya, a white gator with blue eyes.

Catch the shows with humans interacting with gators, including the classic Gator Jumparoo, where huge American alligators leap from the water to chomp chickens dangling from lines. Alligator wrestling and creepy critter shows educate their audiences with reptile trivia while performing amazing stunts. Take a relaxing train ride through the swamp, make some cuddly friends at the petting zoo or cool off from the Florida sun in the Gator Gully Splash Park, where you’re sure to get soaked.

International Drive, better known as I-Drive

International-Drive, better known as I-Drive, serves as Orlando’s main tourist strip and has it all from hotels to shopping to entertainment. And of course the I-Ride-trolley which comes along every 20 minutes. The I-Ride takes you to the 6 great theme parks that are located at International-Drive or to one of the other 30 attractions that I-Drive has. And when that is not enough you can either shop at one of the 500+ designer, brand-name or outlet stores. Or look for a restaurant of your choice, with 200+ restaurants there should be one that holds your favorite food. Before exploring the area it might be a good idea to visit the Official Visitor Center in a city that has so much to offer. Staff is waiting for you to come in and help you plan your holiday. They will tell you about The Orlando Eye as one of the newest attractions in ‘City Beautiful’, as Orlando is also known, and the largest observation wheel on the East Coast! So take a moment to escape, and discover the magic and natural wonder Orlando has to offer from above.

For those looking to spice up their visit, Mango’s Tropical Cafe has live music and entertainment, colorful drinks and food all with a some Latin flare, so get ready to dance the night away at the newest hotspot for nightlife in Orlando on International Drive!
