Day 103 – November 3

We wanted to visit The Whole Food Store for a long time since we heard a lot about it. Well today is finally the day we will have a visit.

The Whole Food Store is a health store with lots of biological products and products from other countries. Good to see these stores, totally different from Walmart.

You can also buy daily fresh food here for either lunch or dinner. We bought those energy bars, made of honey, almond and different seeds. Along with some coffee and tea, awesome!!

We also bought two bags sweet potatoes chips, oh this tastes well and without salt, so I can have that too. They also sold fresh nuts, no salt, awesome! We took some pistachio with us.

At 04.00PM we took Camy to a store for some ice cream, medium size. Well, enough for three days if you ask me!

When we got home a large package was delivered. It was from my sister and took about six weeks to get here. It was my birthday present. Because the city name was unreadable they did not know where to deliver it and that is why it took so long. And it sure was worth the wait, a coloring book for adults. Thank you, I’m happy!

Day 79 – October 10

Friday morning means Worship at St. Lukes, so we attended chapel once again. We always wait outside so we can see the kids enter church from school, this is Camy and her chapel buddy. First all classes sat together but no they created these families. One student from every grade and this means that the elder have to be a guide for the younger ones. So Camy always needs to go to second grade first to pick up and guide her buddy.

Afterwards we went to a pumpkin patch, I do not know how many pumpkins they had but it was full of them. It of course is almost Halloween.

We bought 2 small pumpkins so we can make some soup of it and smoothies as well.

After that we stopped at several yard sales. Fridays and Saturdays it is normal to sell your stuff. So we found an app that informed us all about the yard sales that were going on.

And of course, just follow the sign that leads you to them.

After school we found this old fashioned place where they sell all kinds of hot dogs.

At Walmart we saw those pumpkins, not orange but pink. They are baskets which you can use as a bag when you go trick-or-treat on Halloween.

And since we got a birthday coming up we bought a birthday cake as well.

And when we finally arrived home, we found a beautiful card from France in our mailbox, thank you!

Day 31 – August 23

Today we started out by doing some landscaping.
Since the weekend started we have got time to take care of this.
There is mulch all around the outside of the cage and we want to get rid of this. Besides the mulch we also took out the weed and did some pest control. All the edgers will now be placed against the cage in stead of creating a border.

Here a small lizard on top of the sillcock valve, right now when I want to use it. I got my camera and luckily the lizard stayed put and I was able to take a picture.

We used the water hose to clean our hands and feet.
It also showed a rainbow but you are not able to see it real good on this picture.

This is a book I bought at a thrift store last week.
Ricky Lake, who does not remember this talk host of the 80’s.
Let me find out what she has to tell us, I am curious.

This evening we were invited by a family we met at school. They have three kids that go to St. Lukes but not above second grade so they are not in any of Camy’s classes. The way we met was because Bram and I were discussing something in Dutch and that was when she happened to be walking by and stopped. It sounded familiar to her and asked what language we spoke, “Dutch”, we said. She then said, “I thought so”. It turned out that her husband has ancestors from Holland and even speaks a little Dutch himself.

On the way home, 11.25PM, we stopped by at Walmart to do some groceries; thinking you’d be the only one at this time of the day. Wrong, it was so crowded we even had to park near the end of the parking lot. Good thing, we have got food for at least the next two weeks.

Day 29 – August 21

We find ourselves a bench and take out our phones and read the newspaper, go through our email and use Facebook.

At Walmart I saw these Jordan Almonds, lets find out whether or not they are as good as they look.

And of course we had to try those donuts as well.

We also brought a visit to this new store, At Home.
We wandered around, picked up some ideas and had some fun about all the Christmas stuff. Outside it is 90ºF and inside you can buy Christmas trees, how’bout them colors!

We bought ourselves a salad at Mc Donalds. We love the Wendy’s and Mc Donalds salads these days, can not be burgers all day long, can it?

We also stopped by at Dicks Sporting Goods, I am still looking for some Nike’s, I just do not know which I like best but those look good. Anyway no rush and time enough to look around. I might get these when there is nothing else to my liking.

When we get home Camy always checks the mailbox. And guess what, we’ve got mail, yes! Thanks mom, Esther and Michele, your cards are on their way!

Day 21 – August 13

Today started out with a little sun while hitting some traffic on the way to school.

Today we visited a Wal-Mart Neighboorhood Market, only food is sold here. A little different from the Walmart we all know, the Megastore.

This was a funny thing, ground beef chucked.

We bought some raspberries and banana’s.

The raspberries are soo big and soo sweet!

So, here we are without Camy enjoying a cup of coffee and tea.
It still needs to sink in that we do not have to do anything but enjoy life to the fullest.

We went to Target because we are looking for some curtains in the living room. That is when I also ran into these awesome beds and make ups.
They do have great things here!

At Wendy’s we had this salad, can not have fast food all the time.

Day 17 – August 9

Goodmorning everybody!
It is so great to wake up every single day and see the sun and know the weather is going to be awesome. Today we sat at the pool but most of the time also looking for that shade. It is soo hot you can not imagine what 100 degrees does.

The T-shirts we tie dyed the other day are all done and look here for the results, looks good or what?

Today Camy also finished here first homework assignment, she was given some homework which needed to be done by the end of summer. She had to read “The Hatchet”
and answer some pop quiz questions along with writing an essay.

Then al of a sudden the weather got real bad, without any warnings it went from sunny and clear to rain and wind within 10 minutes. To be truthful it was good to have, now at least the temperature went down a bit.

After dinner we went out for some grocery’s, Walmart is one of our more favorite mega stores. We also looked for school uniforms but tomorrow we will exactly know what Camy needs to wear.
She has a kaki pair of jeans but she needs some polo shirts as well, school will inform us tomorrow.

Day 15 – August 7

Today we received a card from The Netherlands!
It always feels good to receive one, so thank you Tally!

Later in the afternoon we tried to tie-dye two T-shirts.
We will update you with the results later, they are still wet.

When we need to do grocery shopping we always need the care, so it
was about 04.00PM when we drove off towards Home Depot. We are
trying to find new carpet, laminate or hardwood flooring.
We took some samples of laminate and hardwood flooring.
Now the only question that remains….. what is the one we want.

After visiting Home Depot we got a little rain.
It is always in the afternoon that we get some rain, and let me tell you, it does RAIN!
But afterwards it feels good, temperature drops about 20 degrees which makes up for an awesome night!

Day 2 – July 25

Having our breakfast first, to start a wonderful day!

On our way towards Cooperstown we drove through the City of Amsterdam. Well, city…. a small town!
When we saw Amsterdam we thought of all the Dutch we might see but unfortunately none of of that.
At the city hall we atleast were able to take some picture showing that we indeed were in Amsterdam.

While driving further we had to stop to do some groceries, so we stopped at Walmart. A megastore with two floors. In the middle there was an escalator and you were even able to take your cart with you! We have seen a lot of funny things while visiting The USA for the last 25 years but we had never seen something like this.
