Day 13 – August 5

We did not really do anything but enjoy the sun until it was like 3.00PM.

Day13-1

That’s when we went to the Florida Mall to get some M&M’s at the M&M-store.

Day13-2Day13-3

And you got to keep your promises when you make one.
When we are back in The USA we will buy a Urban Naked 3 palet!

Day13-4

After dinner there are some little things we always do, today it was getting rid off the spiders. What they do is, they take the inside of the cage poles and thats where they start to propagate.

Day13-5

Day 12 – August 4

We had to do some grocery shopping today, so off we went.
It might not look as we did a whole of shopping, but that is because of the size of trunk of the car. There are at least 15 bags and enough food for the next week. Normally we do not buy the large sized veggies and all that but today we did buy the large 4lbs ones.

Day12-1We also had received a to do list from school, so we bought school supplies and other items mentioned on the list.
The only things we still needed after we were done, a back pack, PE uniform and a school uniform.

Day12-2When we returned home they were mowing the lawn, which they always do in Sandy Ridge. The H.O.A. made a deal with this company and they take care of the entire residential area. This way the community always looks good and well taken care of, especially for all the rentals.

Day12-3

Dinner time came along and we had: broccoli, tutor tots, corndog and home-made salad.

Day12-4

Day 11 – August 3

It was a nice and quiet day today.
Last night was the last night spending in a hotel.
Tonight it will be our own beds again after we can enter the Villa at 4.00PM.
The latest renters left this morning and all need to be cleaned before we can enter.

When we enjoyed our breakfast at 7-eleven I saw these nice plants, assuming it is one, which I do not know the name of.
But what I do know it is shaped real well and has beautiful colors.

Day11-1

We also had our first rain since coming down to Florida. Since it is rain season not unexpected.

Day11-3 Day11-2

Day 10 – August 2

We ran in some tough luck last night, since we never ever book a hotel, we were unable to find one last night for the very first time. And all we did see, pricing was outrages. But since we all need a little rest we had no other choice and book a more expensive hotel. This also altered our plans a little. We are hoping to fly doen to Florida a little earlier than planned. Chances of finding a hotel is a little odd these days in this area because of all that is happening this time of year.

So off to Logan Airport (Boston) we went, trying to catch a flight to Orlando. Since we always travel as stand-by passengers, we always have to wait until right before departure time. And it seemed to be our lucky day again, the last three available seats were ours. And the good thing was, all at the same row. Sylvia sat on her own but Bram and Camy had seats next to each other so no complaints.

Home sweet Home!!

Day10-1 Day10-2 Day10-3 Day10-4

Day 9 – August 1

Today we made plans to take a visit at Acadia State Park.

Day9-1

First stop was Mount Cadillac, with its great views.

Day9-6

Right here, we already climbed some, but we have got some more to go, see everyone else already on top.

Day9-7

In between all the rocks you will find blueberries, they just grow here in the wild.

Day9-8

After we got to the top we drove to nearby Sand Beach, a small but crowded little beach. Time to relax and get our feet wet. The water, however, was quite cold, brrr.

And last but not least, we stopped at the Thunder Hole.

Day 7 – July 30

The motel we are staying at these days is right next to The White Mountains. During the winter you are able to have lots of fun here, think about snow skiing etc. When you look around it is all there.
But since it is summertime now it certainly is not a waste of time!
There are some nice waterfalls and trails to hike with lots to see.
We did the Flume Trail today, we can sure recommend it.

Day7-1 Day7-2 Day7-3 Day7-4 Day7-5 Day7-6 Day7-7 Day7-8 Day7-9 Day7-10

On the way back we saw this sign, “BRAKE FOR MOOSE”

Day7-11

And what we did not expect did happen, all cars stopped when mother and baby moose crossed the highway.

Day7-12

Back at the hotel, we jumped straight into the pool to have a little fun.

Day 6 – July 29

Today we took a little short cut by taking the ferry and see the country from a different perspective (from the water). It did not take too long, about 20 minutes which was just fine.

Within 2 hours we now were at Ben&Jerry’s Factory, which is located in Waterbury, VT. We took the factory tour, which was nice to see.

They also build a “graveyard” in the backyard for flavors that are no longer produced and sold.

While driving to our final destination for the day we saw some well-known covered bridges on the way down.

Day 5 – July 28

Today, we will be visiting Lake Placid, NY, known for its Olympic Winter Games of 1932 and 1980.

We left Gloversville behind without any sun and drove up to Lake Placid, taking the highway as well as the scenic tour.
Unfortunately we had rain the entire day, which was why we could not do too much, as you can see on the pictures.

Day 4 – July 27

This is the second day of our Cooperstown trip, part two of the induction of Hall of Fame weekend.
The event was just outside of Cooperstown where the 6 latest members of the Hall of Fame were introduced: Bobby Cox, Tony LaRussa, Joe Torre,  Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and Frank Thomas.
With us, again some 45.000 avid baseball fans were on hand to listen to all the speeches that were given. With the speech of Frank Thomas standing out.
