Day 23 – August 15

Today is Friday and every Friday school starts with a worship in church.
The worship lasted about 40 minutes with speeches and songs and last but not least, do-er awards are handed out. From all classes students can pick a student who did something good, helped someone out or was noticed in some other way. Counting all the votes a student from every class will be called and need to come forward to receive an award and T-shirt. A teacher is also voted for by students, so he or she will also receive an award.

We, as parents, are allowed to visit as well. And since this is all new to us as well we decided to join the worship and see for ourselves. And even though we are no Lutherns it was good see and we might join them again next week.

After worship was over, all students went back to class and had a normal day in school. And we …. we had this wonderful garot cake, yumie! Hey we need to spoil ourselves once in awhile, haha.

While driving around we also saw this parking lot with, I do not know how many, school buses, awesome to see because that is what they are.

In the meantime it was lunch time, SO what do we have for lunch today?
Why not go over to Panera Bread, it’s been a while since we last ate here. And since it is crowded here all the time, the food must be good. We both had a flat bread along with a smoothie. And indeed delicious.

After school was out and the weekend had started Camy wanted to go to the outlet mall.
Since she was at school the entire week and did not see the inside of a store we decided to go.
This is where we saw this candy store with “Lego” candies.

And how’bout this mega candy necklace.

And even though the mall is large enough and with all the different stores we did not buy anything today. And let me tell you that does not happen very often 🙂

Day 22 – August 14

Today we started the day by ordering tickets for a baseball game in Tampa. Tampa Bay vs New York Yankees, Bram is soo happy and can not wait for game day!

We also ran in to this mail delivery car, cute isn’t it?
Who does not remember the cartoon Peter Post, so funny, that is what this reminded me of.

This is a selfie, just for the ones that do miss me 🙂
I’m waiting for Camy to get out of school, nice and relaxed while enjoying the sun!

After dinner it is still so good outside when it concerns the temperature.
It makes me feel so good to sit outside, just before it gets dark.
Around 08.30PM is starts to shimmer and by 09.00PM its dark.
It’s been a couple of years but I’m reading an english written book again.

Day 21 – August 13

Today started out with a little sun while hitting some traffic on the way to school.

Today we visited a Wal-Mart Neighboorhood Market, only food is sold here. A little different from the Walmart we all know, the Megastore.

This was a funny thing, ground beef chucked.

We bought some raspberries and banana’s.

The raspberries are soo big and soo sweet!

So, here we are without Camy enjoying a cup of coffee and tea.
It still needs to sink in that we do not have to do anything but enjoy life to the fullest.

We went to Target because we are looking for some curtains in the living room. That is when I also ran into these awesome beds and make ups.
They do have great things here!

At Wendy’s we had this salad, can not have fast food all the time.

Day 20 – August 12

Tringgggggg tringgggg, it the alarm clock, 06.00AM!!
We have exactly one hour to get ready, shower, dress and have breakfast.
We have to leave the house by 07.10AM or we will not make it to school in time.

Today is the first school day of a new school year.
First bell is at 08.15AM, second at 08.30AM and everybody needs to be in their homeroom by then.

Teachers had pictures frames ready so you were able to take that “first day of school” picture. They had everything set up real nice with balloons. After we had taken Camy to her homeroom we headed for the Mall. We had until 01.00PM because school was out early on this first day. Normally school is out at 03.15PM.

We stopped by at K-Mart and Lowe’s afterwards. Getting some information on different floors, tiles and hardwood flooring.

Since this is kind of a holiday for us, which feels strange though, we had a coffee and pancakes at Mc Donalds.

At 01.00PM we picked Camy up from school and stopped on the way home to get a bagel at Einstein.

Once home, we got in to the pool right away.
We went through everything that was in Camy’s backpack and the first homework assignment was taken care of.

Day 19 – August 11

The day started with a little shower, we merely made it to the car without getting wet.

Prior to driving up to school we stopped at the walk-inn medical center.
We had to get the vaccinations translated and have the paperwork approved for Camy’s school records. After this was taken care of we headed to school for the 03.00PM gathering.

This was the invitation received.

Since parents were not allowed, we went to get a turkey cheese sandwich.

While waiting to pick Camy up, we took some pictures of the school surroundings.

The entrance, this is where all the kids are dropped off and picked up.
It is like a drive-thru, teachers open the doors, students get out, parents are off to work. Works real well and smooth!

Day 18 – August 10

The first thing I had to do today was cut Brams hair.
Since he wants to have it cut real short, bold headed, we have to do this once a week from now on.

And once done, guess what….. yep a dip in the pool.

At 01.00PM we had to get ourselves ready for a short visit to school, our first visit.

After a 45 minute drive we arrived at school, St. Lukes.
First impression…. big and yes indeed a church.

There was a pre-sale at school which enabled us to buy jeans and shirts among other items. First thing we did was buy a pair of jeans for Camy. Choices had to be made, kaki or dark blue jeans, long pants or shorts, wide or skinny. We ordered a kaki and dark blue one. They can be picked up on Thursday until than she is allowed to wear her own kaki jeans.

You were even able to buy, bows, purses and lunch boxes, all in school colors. We do not need this, but it was funny to see, very much in school style!

On top of the jeans sleeved polo shirts will be worn. They were available in different colors: green, red, yellow, blue and white. A green colored shirt was mandatory because this needs to be worn when on field trips. We also bought a blue and white one.

And besides we also bought a pink one with the Wild Cats logo. She is allowed to wear this on wednesdays when all is not too strict and everybody is allowed to wear shirts not tucked in.

We then went looking for Camy’s homeroom teacher, Miss Barfield.
There was a locker waiting for Camy in her homeroom, books and planner were already placed into the locker, we added all that we bought ourselves. In total there will be 25 students in Camy’s homeroom.

Tomorrow there will be a little gathering with all 6th graders, parents not allowed! This first meeting will be about 90minutes, a good first test for Camy, excited!

On the way home, we had dinner at Denny’s, a double cheeseburger.

Day 17 – August 9

Goodmorning everybody!
It is so great to wake up every single day and see the sun and know the weather is going to be awesome. Today we sat at the pool but most of the time also looking for that shade. It is soo hot you can not imagine what 100 degrees does.

The T-shirts we tie dyed the other day are all done and look here for the results, looks good or what?

Today Camy also finished here first homework assignment, she was given some homework which needed to be done by the end of summer. She had to read “The Hatchet”
and answer some pop quiz questions along with writing an essay.

Then al of a sudden the weather got real bad, without any warnings it went from sunny and clear to rain and wind within 10 minutes. To be truthful it was good to have, now at least the temperature went down a bit.

After dinner we went out for some grocery’s, Walmart is one of our more favorite mega stores. We also looked for school uniforms but tomorrow we will exactly know what Camy needs to wear.
She has a kaki pair of jeans but she needs some polo shirts as well, school will inform us tomorrow.

Day 16 – August 8

Today was the day to go out and have dinner some where.
But where …. we knew it had to be outside because the temperature is so good even later at night.
Inside you always run into the air condition, which is fine but not while having dinner. It makes you that much colder and just the air while eating.

So we came up with Downtown Disney (now: Disney Springs) and Pleasure Island. Disney Springs is more than worth the visit when you are visiting the Orlando area. You can find restaurants, stores and all sorts of entertainment here. You can easily wonder around for a couple of hours and have a little fun. There is more than enough to do!

This was our little desert, well small??
We decided to take just one and share it with the two of us while enjoying the crowd and Camy who danced the night away.
A fun place to be, there is a DJ who plays records and gets everybody off their feet, young and elderly.

Day 15 – August 7

Today we received a card from The Netherlands!
It always feels good to receive one, so thank you Tally!

Later in the afternoon we tried to tie-dye two T-shirts.
We will update you with the results later, they are still wet.

When we need to do grocery shopping we always need the care, so it
was about 04.00PM when we drove off towards Home Depot. We are
trying to find new carpet, laminate or hardwood flooring.
We took some samples of laminate and hardwood flooring.
Now the only question that remains….. what is the one we want.

After visiting Home Depot we got a little rain.
It is always in the afternoon that we get some rain, and let me tell you, it does RAIN!
But afterwards it feels good, temperature drops about 20 degrees which makes up for an awesome night!

Day 14 – August 6

First things first, so we take a dip into the pool!
And after that it was time for ourselves, chilling and relaxing,
this is our last week off before school starts.
And we all know when it is that time of year, running around like crazy!

We also got company today, a nice looking bird.
Since I did not know what its name was, I looked it up and I came up with a egret.
Atleast, to me, that is what it looked like, someone else has a better idea?
